Choosing an Invisalign® Dentist

What Do You Look For When Choosing an Invisalign® Dentist?

Dr. Shalit replied: “Most important is experience. Don’t be afraid to ask how many Invisalign® cases the dentist has done. For example because I’ve done so many cases I can determine which patient would be a good candidate for the procedure and I can predict the final result. An inexperienced dentist might recommend Invisalign® when in fact wire braces would have been a better option.

It is the dentist who examines the patient and outlines the goals. The dentist maps out the plan for the movement of the teeth, which have to be turned, which have to be repositioned and perhaps even leave a space if veneer placement is needed. The dentist must see the total picture and then send the details to the Invisalign® lab. This would be a reason to consider using a dentist rather than an orthodontist for the Invisalign® procedure. An orthodontist does not generally discuss cosmetic treatment other than orthodontics. There might be other options or a combination of options which can best be determined by an experienced dentist.”
